I was at an European specialty shop yesterday that has two Autologics.
One for BMW and another for MB. They also have a “factory” MB system. The owner say’s he always uses the factory system when diagnosing MB cars.
It does not come close to the Autologic in available diagnostic information.
We hooked up to a BMW and used the new BMW-ICOM.
It was fast, it pulled, the DTC’s, showed the full CAN network in a minute.
Green modules are great, yellow have faults, red are missing, how easy is that?
SAS, FRM, eccentric shaft sensor.
This really helps in a multi line shop. This is a must as we are getting a lot of entry level technicians, that appreciate the deep system explanations in that software.
The owner asked me to prepare an estimate for the Universal scanner from Taiwan and a PC.
Nice. I also watched as he tried a SRI on a late model Porsche with the Durametric. FAIL.
The Universal scanner from Taiwan does it, no problem.
I was connected to an Audi yesterday. Parasitic drain. CAN goes to sleep okay. Then the cluster comes alive and drains the battery.
We connected using the Universal scanner from Taiwan. We used the VAS 19.01 to demonstrate.
The software recommends the Measurement module as it wants you to use the oscilloscope.
Then it pops to the next page, where it shows you these known patterns.
How else would you get this information? I made a mistake on 3 or 4, same image different description.
After 2010, these “information” systems are not able to keep up.
One of my customer’s called yesterday. They had to send a customer away as they could not remove a headlamp assembly!

Customer calls, we spend a few minutes together on the car using ISTA-D, no faults showing, help and advice was not quick to find.
Mechanics are always in a hurry, due flat rate pay plan……..
So we grabbed the universal Taiwanese scanner and went into diagnostics to verify where the RDC module was.
Chassis
Then backed out to main screen, made these choices, vehicle diagnostics, BMW package, coding and programming, chose the next line that had the newer chassis’ listed, verified system date, wrote last 7 digits of the VIN, TPMS light went out!
Quick test found 1 fault in KOMBI for ignition on pin 30 value too low. clear and re-read, test drive, BILL THE CUSTOMER, WE ARE DONE!

Okay,
BMW just announced the new requirements for programming their cars.
105 AMPs! 13.2-14.2 VDC.
So with the start of the E72 and F01 chassis cars, everyone programming these cars needs more POWER!
While programming, BMW rolls windows up and down, turns cooling fans on and off, runs its electric water pumps and headlights the whole time.
These power supplies maintain steady voltages while all this is happening.
Midtronic PSC550 will not keep up.
The Midtronics PSC700 is a little short as well.
The charger we have been selling is only a 70 AMP.
Your Fronious Charger will not do.
The only single charger that is capable and recommended by BMW is a Deutronics DBL 1600 @ about a dollar an AMP!
Don’t make a move without checking back with us.
We are waiting for engineers approval on the most affordable solution that we have proposed.

Got a referral today. This guy is a good customer of Autologics. Read on to hear how you will be treated after you buy one.
He bought 7 brands and two Autologic tools.
He is not happy with that company. In his opinion Autologic for VAS sucks. They also sold him Volvo software.
I remember when I worked with Autologic they kept telling us that they had won the suit with Volvo! Liars.
Then Volvo forced Autologic to remove ALL programming for replaced modules from their purple tablet!
Nice job Volvo! Who will be next to order Autologic to cease and desist? BMW or MB? Porsche or Jaguar?
Now that Volvo set precedent, I am sure that they are just building their law suit.
“Tech support used to be a lot better” was what I heard Bill say.
Then he said, “there used to be work support built in to the Autologic” “It’s gone”, he say’s, “That’s so you have to call and they can ask you to spend more $$$”.
He bought all the lines and now does not get help when he calls. In the beginning he was getting connected to the efficient UK support team, now, he complains it is somebody from New York City!
He says it started out great but now when he calls they ask him his phone number for a call back, at their convenience!
The only regular calls he gets are from surly sales ladies (from NYC) trying to get him to renew his “maintenance”.
I see this as an opportunity. We are making a date for his demo in the next couple of days.
Autologic owners should unite and file a class action suit.
If anyone is interested in filing one let me know and I will put up a website and start collecting interested parties.
