Jaguar and Land Rover IDS

I got a job in from the Bahama’s. A nice guy that bought some connectors from China and was not connecting to those cars like he thought he should!

Remember, each time someone buys from a new Chinese supplier, they are taking a great chance that they will waste their money.

Consider not buying from someone who makes knock off copies of other peoples products!

The best choice is the universal Taiwanese scanner.

The company with the longest presence here in the US market. The only tool that allows for OE diagnostic software to communicate through to the car.

Also, remember, no connector will allow communication on cars that are not in this list!

IDS cannot connect to early Land Rovers at all! You need the Rovacom, a T7, or an Autologic.

LRJ coverage goes like this:

Discovery     2005-2009

2010-2011

Sport                2006-2009

2010-2011

Range Rover 2005

2006

2007-2009

Freelander   2007-2010

2011

Defender       2007-2010

2011

RR Evoque   diesel and Gas

Autologic for BMW owners needing to buy ICOM

Reported in “Parts and People” the shop, in Englewood, CO that has had an Autologic for BMW probably longer than any other in the region has found it necessary to buy the ICOM set and subscribe to www.bmwtechinfo.com for the information that is missing from the Autologic.

There is just all the information that you can possibly need in that ISIS software.

From measurements and factory specifications for body work or alignments, to fluid capacities, service interval requirements, component locators, TSB’s.

It goes on with work advice regarding assembly and dis assembly, part numbers of tools needed and pictures of them that you might make your own in a pinch.

Wiring diagrams, pinouts and values expected as well as system function and descriptions of how they work.

Contact us and ask us how we can help you get this downloaded on your computer for reference if nothing else.

BMW ISIS ISTA-P and ISTA-D

Is all working well through the Universal scanner from Taiwan as of last month.

So there is another reason to buy the Universal scanner from Taiwan. The first generation ICOM set from BMW was $4500.

It ONLY works on BMW.

The Universal scanner from Taiwan is only $6000. It works all all US brands and 99% of USA Imported cars.

It emulates the ICOM connector allowing ALL functions available from their website.

Programming and coding all modules!

BMW X5 software versions too new for SSS

I got a call from a customer in Denver yesterday.

They are using a Chinese copy of the yellow DK head and a live install of DIS and SSS on an IBM T41.

They tried to do a battery registration on an X5 using the Progman, the car had a higher I level than v32, so it sent them away.

SSS denied us this. DIS, under service functions allowed it, no problem!

This was an opportunity to demonstrate the Universal scanner from Taiwans ability to enhance the functionality.

The Universal scanner from Taiwan is a hand held scanner, probably the fastest.

It has this option right from the hand held, just like the factory tool does, so no need for a PC to do this.

Just do it. I was also told at the AAPEX show in Vegas this year that all F series car programming is on the unit!

That is HUGE!

So, if you have been held back by the original BMW SSS software checking the I level, get the Universal scanner from Taiwan.

New scanner

Finally.

A single car line option tool.

Great coverage. Less than $300.

Way deeper than an OBDII scanner!

Hooked up to a 2010 Ford Escape, my neighbors car, alarm has been going off 2-3 X a week.

New scanner hooked up read last 3 alarm triggers, passenger side door. Cleared codes. No problem.

Activations, graphing, read and clear DTC’s. Program new keys!

WOW!

Hooked up to a my accountants 2008 Honda Accord coupe.

Activations working. Lots of functions. Disabled all injectors for a compression test, reactivated them, no problem. NICE!

Finally, a tool as capable on all model cars as the VCDS is for VW Audi cars!

Tried it on a Subaru with an intermittent, crank, no start problem.

It showed the crank position sensor and the cam sensor cycling from Off/On and when graphed showed a flat zero output.

No DLC’s so we checked it with another tool and saw the same results. (no graphing options on the other tool, live data shows On/Off only)

Call us and ask us about the new tool for your car!

AAPEX 2013

Hello all!

Just back from the AAPEX show in Vegas.

We had a great turnout at the Universal scanner from Taiwan booth!

Thanks all of you for stopping by.

We made a lot of great connections.

We spoke at length with many potential customers. Explaining the depth of coverage and information technology that we can help you obtain.

A special thanks to Ricardo Gonzalez from Puerto Rico of Caribbean Rovers, Inc. for patiently waiting while I was speaking to the owners of German Motors from Providence, RI.

We spoke last year at AAPEX and he was back again this year as well. He wants the Universal scanner from Taiwan and a laptop. We are still negotiating the price.

I also want to thank Tony Abdulmassih of TER Automotive Center in San Francisco for spending as much time with me as he did.

I spoke with Gary Chambers from Boulder Colorado yesterday as well. Gary run’s Super Ru Pair, the worlds largest independent Subaru repair facility!

His repair options have expanded to several new locations and he feels the need for a multi brand scanner.

Special thanks out to the owner of Ken’s Muffler & brakes of Fort Collins, CO as well.

Ken’s is looking toward developing a Hybrid specialization in that town.

I think the Universal scanner from Taiwan is going to be in that shop soon as well.

We had visits with the director of Automotive Technology, David Welty, working with the Christian Brothers franchise chain.

The Christian Brothers brand is one of the fastest growing franchises in North America.

They settled on the Universal scanner from Taiwan years ago for all of their stores.

They have been more than happy. What’s that say about our tool?

Special thanks out to all of the scanner salesman that stopped by and are anxious to experience the OEM  laptops.

We have many new orders for demonstrator diagnostic PC’s, and are going to need to fill another IT position.

I spent quite a bit of time with Jay Mathes of All Imported Auto of Ridgecrest, CA.

I was very impressed with the depth of understanding that many shop owners brought to the show this year.

Jay was a prime example. He has a very impressive array of OE scan options in his shop already and like many shop owners he is realizing a need not only for the OE PC based software’s but values what a lightning fast hand held multi brand scanner will do to expedite cars in and out of his facility.

I spoke with a team from Wisconsin that specializes in mobile diagnostics. They aspire to provide solutions using  a remote access utility like LogMeIn123 or Teamviewer in order to cut their drive time expenses. Boy, did they make the right stop! This is the Virtual Diagnostic bay concept we are beta testing.

We are the only company offering support via remote access to both the OE software’s on PC and we can also see and help navigate the menu selections of the hand held Unit!

They really appreciated the choices available for scanning that the Universal scanner from Taiwan suite brings to the table.

How many times have I heard “the more scanners you have the better off you are”?

A lot!

When you sign up for “The Full Monty” using the Universal scanner from Taiwan system, you have many tools at your disposal.

Okay, back to thanking the attendee’s!

Thank you Derrick Flynn from Ontario. Derrick is pioneering the successful cleaning of the DPF on Diesel cars in North America. His system has been used with great success in Italy for more than five years, but the OE dealers do not support cleaning of DPF’s. His need was again answered in part by the Universal scanner from Taiwan. He needs a scanner that allows initiation of the DPF regeneration with the push off a button on the big three US brands. I was not sure about that function so I asked our head engineer.

Another shop from the East Coast, Far East Customs, stopped by the booth and spent a good deal of time with us. I look forward to working closer with all of you.

Thanks out to the 3 guys from Hawaii that came by last year and again this year! Let’s make a deal!

Thanks for a great show!

Automotive IT solutions

You should not let NON AUTOMOTIVE IT guy’s work on your stuff!

I helped a shop a couple of years back get their old CF28 toughbook working.

They had Mercedes and VAS on Windows XP.

They had a problem and called their handy IT expert.

He took the PC and went to work fixing it by reinstalling Windows!

Not only does that erase all of the OE installs but that was not good enough for this guy.

Here are some pictures of the toughbook when we got it back.02 13 2013 091 02 13 2013 093

The IT guy had good intentions. They do not know what we are doing.

So, we got the CF28 replaced and reloaded with all the softwares.

Unintended firing of Honda Airbags!

Here is an information piece from Honda Motor Company!

“On certain 2007 ~ 2008 Honda Civics, trying to diagnose the
SRS system with HDS may cause the Passenger Side Curtain
Airbag to deploy. If this happens, it may cause bodily
injury to the technicians, and unintended damages to the
vehicle interior.

To avoid this potential problem, refrain from diagnosing
2007 ~ 2008 Honda Civic SRS system with HDS for the time
being. HDS software fix will be released on September 18,
2013, and you will receive further instructions on how to
obtain one year software subscription FREE of charge. Upon
receipt of this software, update your HDS PC without delay.

Note: Unlike your old HDS software, new software will expire
after one calendar year. If you choose not to update your
software, you will risk having an unintended airbag
deployment.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may be cause.

Sincerely,

American Honda Motor Co., Inc.”
