Updated Engine oil level test
The Engine oil level test for all VEA engines has been updated. This applies to the following vehicles: S60 (11-), V60, XC60, S60L, S80, V40, V40 Cross Country, V70 (08-) and XC70 (08-), XC90 (16-), S90 (17-), V90 (17-), S90L.
The reason for this update is that the old test was not accurate enough.
In order to get good dependability and repeatability of the measurement, the oil has to be heated up to 70 °C together with a drain back time of 10 minutes.
This is called the Volume test.
This can take a long time, so the test is complemented with the dipstick test.
The dipstick test represents similar accuracy as measuring with a physical oil dipstick. The measurement takes 90 seconds and is presented in a resolution of 6 segments reflecting the oil level.
