I got another call yesterday from Michael of Import Mechanics. Their diagnostic PC was dropped and broke the display.
We pulled a Dell E-5500 from stock and headed down to the shop, we swapped out the Hard Drive from the broken PC and he was up and running with a loaner while we repair his.
Making a good choice for a diagnostic is very important.
The choice of supplier is every bit as important.
Had another call come in yesterday from Aspen Auto Care in Colorado Springs, they were having trouble with the VCDS Dongle we sent as a replacement.
The first issue was the $19 Blue USB to OBDII cable that they found on EBay.
I advised they throw it away.
They were able to test the USB port successfully when not hooked to a car. VCDS found, no L or K line, no car.
When connected to a car no communications were possible. We remoted into the PC install, removed the old version, ran the clean up USB driver utility from Ross Tech when re-installing and VOILA!
DONE, they are back up and running!
