BMW ISIS Install

Last Saturday I started to install the licensed ISIS system for BMW diagnostics and service information.

I  got it started around 7pm.

BMW warns you that the setup is going to take a couple of hours.

Hows about 48.

Saturday night about 8 I thought I had hit the wall with an error message 1/17!

I opened a ticket for BMW tech support and figured it was beer thirty.

BMW tech support used to be as bad as Volvo’s! What an improvement!

Ten minutes later I get a phone call from their new 24/7 support.

He was great, spoke very good English, removed all evidence of the previous install, we worked until 10:30!

I started the install again in the morning, it ran for about 8 hours via my 54 kbs wireless connection.

I got another call from BMW’s Romanian tech support, different tech.

I pointed out that I had 1gb per second if we wired the LAN so we stopped the install, and disabled the wireless!

Started it over and it still took till almost 10 PM!

It was worth it.

The information alone is worth the $2500 a year subscription. That works out to $6.85 a day!

We will be offering assistance with this software. Installation and application!

Everybody talks about slow programming events.

Well, stop being cheap and lay out the cash for the ICOM set.

Let’s see, the auto b logic(al) for one car line is 11,5 or so and 1,200 a year for the rest of your business life!

BMW ICOM set is a little less that 5K or a re-engineered set from China is available for around 2K.

Well 5k and $2,500 a year is less money than the auto b logic(al) and BMW gives you all of the guided fault functions!

BMW’s tech support  is available 24/7!

US tech support for that other brand is OK for the East coast but California loses it at 3pm!

The good tech help actually comes from England and even New York loses that at noon, California @ 9:00 AM!

Well, no comparison, really. Any serious BMW shop should have both.

Call us and see how we can help your business!

DAS tech support, issue solved

Got a call from a new customer in Virginia!

He was having a connection problem with a 93 SL!

Who ever he bought his stuff from in Canada is not so experienced!

The Star Utilities in his install had the Fehler 76 warning, so the diagnostic tect was not available.

A quick Team Viewer link, transfer some installation files, and Voila!

We ran the Cesar, saw the low voltage warning, problem identified!

Thanks, LT!

Names have been changed for privacy reasons!

Othmar,

I was just on your website, very nice.

We where talking about updates. (a month ago)

I don’t remember if we where just going on with the Toughbook you are using or considering a new computer.

Consider keeping the HDD with what is on it as the May of 2007 DAS has benefits.

We can get you a DAS install with April of 2010 on it and put the Lexus software for everyday use on it as well.

Your website mentions Lexus.

The DAS update + the Lexus install for everyday use would be $2000.

A new laptop will be Windows 7 capable,  have great battery life, a brighter screen, 3 years accidental breakage coverage.

If you want the new laptop, add $1000.

We considered the benefits of licensed SCN for Mercedes.

We value the difference between AutoLogic for Mercedes and actual Mercedes Benz interaction.

Mercedes software considers the FDOK records, flows updates to all associated modules and records the changes in FDOK.

AutoLogic will never do that!

Mercedes is complete now, AutoLogic will want to charge you for any new chassis in the future!

Autologic for Mercedes does not cover Smart Car.

Mercedes yearly subscription is less than AutoLogics!

Seems like that ought to be a logical choice.

Get it?

An autological choice?

Never mind.

I think I did not quote you correctly on the phone.

Here is the breakdown.

The SCN needs to go on a separate computer running Win XP Pro svc pack 3.

Let’s call it the programming computer. (Dell e-6420 $1000)

Licensing is $950 a year to MB.

Installation for SCN is $1000.

Installation for SCN and TechStreamLite is $1500.

Installation for SCN and TechStreamLite and ISIS is $2500.

For the communication device I recommend the Drew Technologies CarDaq-M. ($1895)

The CarDaq will also work for the Lexus and the BMW ISIS as the communication device!

The current Lexus software can also live on this computer with no device conflicts as they will use the same device!

So for Lexus programming it is $55 for two days.

Security access for Lexus requires that NASTF clearance and is a little more of a daily rate.

Eventually,

The current BMW ISIS software can also live on this computer with no device conflicts as they will use the same device!

Eventually you may want ISIS. Just like the GT1 software, that’s where the Guided Fault Finding is!

I have been working on it for a while.

Let me know if I missed one of your questions!

Have a great week end!

Thanks for being a customer.

Best Regards,

Diagnostic computers

Remember!

Don’t let your diagnostic computers go on the Internet just to browse.

Check before you install new browsers! Check before you allow Internet Explore to run updates.

Leave Firewall settings alone! Consider setting a restore point before making any changes!

Don’t let normal IT guys make changes to your diagnostic computers! They don’t understand what we are doing!

Don’t buy a computer for diagnostics without consulting an experienced installer!

Time and again I get calls from people telling me about their “new computer”. They get well intentioned advice from a Best Buy salesman.

They come home with a Windows 7 computer, running a 64 bit processor that is not recommended for these factory diagnostics!

We need things that do not come on new computers! Like Serial ports!

Then they ask me for a custom install. Well, like they say, BMW!   Bring More Wallet!

Same thing goes for Netbooks and most Tablets. They are not running a true WIN XP PRO.

Each install is kind of like building a kit car. You have done it before, but if it has different components than previous builds, you may have new issues.

On diagnostic computers we don’t like “issues”  Here at AutoDiagCart we use the sames system hardware over and over.

We install using painstaking precise regamins, ensuring that the result is consistent and proven, over and over, in the field.

So please, let’s talk before you buy!

Call if you think we can help!

Compact 3

We have been working on a Mercedes Benz factory Compact 3 for a customer in Charlotte, NC

On and off for several months.

Had to do a clean install of XP Pro svc pck 3. A clean install of DAS XENTRY October of 2011 for him.

I left Windows Automatic Updates on. Why not? Clean install, recent software version, should be OK, right?

Drivers where almost impossible to get as it is a proprietary hardware. Thanks for a link to the driver package from a friend in Greece we got them.

Then I made the mistake of letting Windows update run. Black or blank screen, Window logo would show, then load, then nothing!

Tyler discovered that one of the last security updates we allowed, resulted in the black or blank screen on boot!

Fortunately good work habits, or CYA procedures saved us.

We had made a copy of the install to a separate hard disk drive that had not connected for Windows updates!

So Tyler mounted it and applied the drivers, shut Windows Automatic updates, and every thing is good.

VW AUDI SEAT SKODA SVM/GeKo

Jon,
ArgH!!!
I wish I was a better typist!
I just hit a wrong key and erased this reply.
I was finished and just typing my postmaster close!
Here I go again!

Access to VW’s  coding and programming starts with the VAS19 software download on a computer. For security reasons there is a $100 fee paid to VWAUDI.
That computer needs a LAN connection for the Internet.
The 5054A will be your connector. Bluetooth is OK for diagnostics. We want wires for programming.
You also need a clean AC ripple free power supply for programming.
It is also very important for long Key On Engine Off diagnosing.
I recomend the Programma 75 Amp power supply for $420.
Now that computer is for programming.
The ELSA website is different.
The VAS19 software for SVM/GeKo will only open when VW AUDI cann see your payment. $29 a day.
On another laptop we install the full version of VAS19.
This one will open and allow all diagnostic functions.
Including guided fault finding.
Guided Fault finding pops clickable boxes, situationaly, providing you with wiring diagrams, component locations, live data and more.
The 5054A head will go back and forth between the two installs with no problem.
Please tell me a little about your shop.
Where are you?
How many tech’s?
Do you work on other lines?
What other diag equipment do you have?
Please consider using me for any of your special tool needs.
I am a distributer of Hazet, Stahwille, Zelenda, Assenmacher, Sir Tools, Pendergrass, Timesert, Baum, etc.
Thanks for your time.

Do it ALL on VW- AUDI

A lot of shops out there are are using the Ross-Tech software.

VAG-COM now VCDS is great. For a long while there it was all you needed. Now we need more!

Back around 2005 or there abouts VW AUDI locked down some of their TRP’s with GeKo.

At first it was very expensive, now it is not. You can be independent again!

Immobilizer, Instrament Cluster, Keys, Climate Control, MMI module, Stereo modules all need the SVM/GeKo.

Call us, we can help you use the FACTORY guided Fault Finding for those “harder than normal” Vtroubleyous”

A J2534 device, a licensed subscription to VW, on your laptop for only $2,500!
With my laptop, $3,500.

Update your DAS or SDS

We get a lot of calls from shops with “grey” systems looking for legitamacy.

DAS XENTRY is the indisputable best for diagnosing these cars.

They are missing the ability to SCN code the Mercedes Benz cars.

Some of their systems are out of date. Some people have clones.

They are  just wanting to come out of the closet, so to speak.

We can help.

What you get is a brand new computer ready to talk to the FDOK server!

A license from Mercedes Benz.

A new VCI or Vehicle Communication Interface.

$4,500

Call or e-mail.

VAS PC

Just recently got an order from a shop that had just finished working on an Audi 2006 A6 Quattro.  They had to replace the MMI module and another module related to the stereo.  The VAG-COM couldn’t apply the SVM/GeKo coding.   So we helped him with a installation of VAS PC on his laptop!

Now he will be able to code everything !  Instrument clusters, A/C systems, and all other GeKo related modules !

Call us to get started!
